About
I am from Florissant, MO, just north of St. Louis, where I nurtured a love for history, music, and film. These interests manifested in undergraduate degrees from St. Louis Community College and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I moved to Columbia, MO in 2019 to pursue a MA and PhD in History at the University of Missouri. Aside from dissertating, teaching, and researching, I love a good local coffee shops and my dog, Geddy.

I approach history through close attention to the relationship between local and global factors. By grounding my work in specific locations and lived experiences, I trace how broader processes such as war, migration, and state power are interpreted, negotiated, and felt on the ground in my dissertation. These localized perspectives allow me to examine how individuals and communities made sense of their position within an increasingly interconnected world. Ultimately, I use this approach to explore how ideas and sensibilities of belonging were constructed, contested, and lived in the twentieth-century United States and Italy.
